The United States Mint produced Liberty Seated {Dollars} at simply two of its three operational amenities in 1871. The Philadelphia Mint struck 1,074,760 silver {dollars} in 1871, whereas the Carson Metropolis Mint struck only one,376. By way of Mint State survivors, the 1871 Philadelphia strike is an in depth third behind the 1859-O and 1860-O because the collection’ most considerable.
Gems are scarce, with most 1871 Liberty Seated {Dollars} grading within the MS62 to MS64 vary. As with many points within the collection, only a few cash actually pop by way of eye attraction.

Design
Obverse:
The obverse options Liberty seated on a rock in classical flowing robes, her head turned to the best (viewer’s left). Liberty’s left arm is bent, her raised hand holding a Liberty pole with a cap. The suitable arm is prolonged downward at her facet, with the hand balancing a protect with the phrase LIBERTY displayed in a curving banner. 13 six-pointed stars encompass the seated determine inside a denticulated rim: seven on the left facet, one between Liberty’s head and the cap, and the remaining 5 alongside the best. The date 1871 is on the backside between the bottom of the rock and the rim.
Reverse:
An eagle is displayed prominently inside a denticulated rim. The eagle’s wings are partly unfold however folded downward on the joint as if the majestic chook had simply landed or maybe as a substitute is getting ready to fly away. An olive department is within the dexter claw (viewer’s left); the sinister claw clutches three arrows. Above the eagle is a wavy ribbon with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, which was added to the coin in 1866. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA encircles the highest two-thirds of the coin contained in the rim, with the ONE DOL. denomination centered on the backside.
